The “Erkner Encounters” are a series of “formalised” informal meetings at the IRS in Erkner to which our research group invites experts in the fields related to the IBC//Spaces project. Here, we debate a wide array of issues regarding the globalisation of higher education from a spatial perspective.
We, as academics, believe it is important to have a format that allows us to freely brainstorm, exchange and discuss ideas with colleagues. The Erkner Encounters enable us to really engage with our guests and their work without the professional constraints that often come with the more traditional and confined academic formats such as conferences or lectures.
When you come to an Erkner Encounter, you do not hold a presentation or pitch your next idea for a project. All we expect from you is to share your insights in a relaxed atmosphere and engage with us in the academic topics that connect us.
On 08 December 2022 the TRANSEDU team met with Sami Moisio, Professor of Spatial Planning and Policy at the University of Helsinki.
