Marc Schulze

Marc Schulze joined the Leibniz Junior Research Group “Constructing Transnational Spaces of Higher Education: International Branch Campus Development at the Interface of Network and Territorial Embeddedness” in May 2018. His current research focus is in Economic Geography with wider research interests in Political and Social Geography. His dissertation project examines how foreign higher education providers’ access to strongly territory-bound higher education markets in Malaysia and Singapore are regulated and how these regulations have evolved over time. He studied Geography, Political Science and English Studies at the University of Freiburg (Germany), the University of Sheffield (UK) and the University of Strasbourg (France) and graduated from Freiburg University with a postgraduate thesis on the interplay between university development and local economic transformations using a case study of the English city of Sheffield. During his studies he worked as research and teaching assistant at the Department for Environmental Social Science and Geography of the University of Freiburg and the Geography Department of the University of Munich, and also gained practical experience in the fields of academic mobility programmes and university partnerships.
